Crucible Local Server changelog

What is new in each version of Crucible Local Server, the app for running local Rust dedicated servers. Newest version at the top. Crucible keeps the app up to date for you.

  • Release servers no longer install the staging build after game updates.
  • Servers already stuck on staging update files repair themselves.
  • A warning when two modded servers will share plugins, Oxide/Carbon servers do not support independently managed plugin directories. Future feature.
  • Crash details are now saved to the log.
  • Network settings warn before you go public.
  • Reuse a server’s procedural worlds.
  • Pick a generated world from the Map tab.
  • Choose whether to load its saved build or start fresh.
  • Map and saved world are chosen independently.
  • Unloaded saves are kept, shown as a backup.
  • Map thumbnails in the Map tab.
  • Map and save previews load fast without freezing the app.
  • Joining a staging server launches the right Rust build.
  • A joining tips button.
  • Open your server’s own folder from the Map tab.
  • The console preview shows more lines.
  • Locked time and weather now apply on server start.
  • Rules toggled while a server runs now take full effect (No animals clears the animals already there).
  • Copy the console to your clipboard.
  • Automatic restarts.
  • Restart or shut down a server on a daily schedule, in your time zone.
  • Players get Rust’s own in-game restart warning, with your message.
  • Optionally install Rust updates during the restart.
  • Hold the restart until players leave.
  • Bring a server back if it crashes.
  • Cancel or skip a restart while it counts down.
  • Optionally keep Crucible in the tray when closed, so an overnight restart still fires.
  • Join now works when Rust is already open.
  • Settings you change update server.cfg straight away, and your own edits to that file are kept.
  • Editing server.cfg by hand updates the settings above to match.
  • Reset a server to its preset defaults.
  • Multi-line server descriptions, plus a banner image and website link.
  • Pick which staging build a staging server runs on, named for the build it runs.
  • Heightmap exports show up in the map menu on their own.
  • Decay and instant craft are now Live server rules.
  • Installing the server files no longer starts the server on its own.
  • An install started from the Quick view now shows in Installs and blocks a second one.
  • A bad map file no longer closes the app.
  • Restoring a backup asks first and cannot lose your world.
  • Removing server files warns which servers lose their worlds.
  • Commands now reach the server you selected, not the first one started.
  • The console, stats and live rules follow the right server.
  • Your server list survives a bad shutdown.
  • Settings are kept inside Rust’s own limits.
  • Two servers can no longer share a port.
  • RCON passwords that switch the console off are refused.
  • Deleting a map a server still uses is blocked.
  • Failed installs and downloads now show an error.
  • Mod and RustEdit downloads are checked before they install.
  • Unsaved server.cfg and plugin edits are no longer lost.
  • A wipe stops if its safety backup fails.
  • Scheduled restarts happen at the time you set, even when it is sooner than the warning.
  • The restart countdown and chat reminders show the real time remaining.
  • Changing the restart time while a server runs no longer leaves the old one pending.
  • The console no longer prints every line twice.
  • Console text can be selected and copied.
  • RustEdit option only on modded servers.
  • The RustEdit custom data option now shows only on Carbon and Oxide servers.
  • Vanilla, Creative and Staging servers are no longer switched to Oxide.
  • Notes, a notebook for every server.
  • Write pages per server: wipe checklists, plugin bugs, seeds worth keeping.
  • Markdown as you type, the way you already type it in chat.
  • Checklists you can tick, pasted screenshots, code blocks.
  • Search every page of every server at once.
  • Insert a snapshot of the map, seed and setup you are testing.
  • Send console lines straight to a note.
  • Wipes, backups and map changes get logged for you.
  • Copy a page as markdown to paste anywhere.
  • Your notes are plain files, kept even if you uninstall.
  • Fixed: empty leftover folders are cleaned up. Docs
  • New guide: Notes for every server https://docs.drizzza.com/server/notes/
  • Import and reuse saved worlds.
  • New Save library in the Map tab: drag a .sav file onto the window, or Browse for one.
  • A saved world can be applied once its matching .map is in your library, then Apply assigns that map and loads the save the next time the server starts.
  • Scan servers pulls a live saved world from any of your other servers into the library, so a base you built on a custom map can carry over to another server.
  • Running multiple servers at once now works.
  • Fixed the “Allow multiple servers running at once” setting: with it on, you can now start a second server while another is running, instead of being told to stop the first one.
  • Each server keeps its own save, ports, and console, so running a few side by side stays clean.
  • Plugins install reliably.
  • Fixed installed plugins not loading: downloading several plugins quickly could save an error page instead of the real plugin. Downloads now retry on their own and never save a broken file.
  • Plugins you already have are marked Installed and will not download again.
  • New “Find on uMod” button opens a plugin’s page so you can download it yourself and drop the file in.
  • The Local, LAN, and Public connect strings now start with “connect ” so you can paste them straight into the in-game console.
  • Custom maps load reliably.
  • Fixed custom maps sometimes loading as a random procedural map instead of the one you selected.
  • The custom map thumbnail now shows the map’s biome colors accurately.
  • Annoying terminal stomped.
  • The Rust server console window no longer appears while a world builds or runs, for good this time.
  • Edit each server’s server.cfg right in the app, with a proper editor that catches mistakes before it saves.
  • Your server.cfg is kept once you edit it: the app no longer overwrites your changes on start, whether you change it in the app or in-game with writecfg.
  • Fixed the “Open cfg folder” button, which did nothing before.
  • Second batch of initial release fixes.
  • Set an official game mode in Config (Vanilla, Softcore, Hardcore, Primitive) so your server shows correctly in-game instead of as a “Development Server”.
  • You choose Vanilla, Carbon, or Oxide when you create a server; the mod stack is fixed after that, so servers no longer switch stacks.
  • Installing Carbon or Oxide reuses the Rust server files you already downloaded instead of downloading the whole server again.
  • The Rust server console window no longer opens while a world loads or runs.
  • New Config option to skip the AI navmesh for a much faster server start and lower CPU use. NPCs and animals will not move, so it is best for build and test worlds or running several servers at once.
  • New advanced Config options to run the server at higher CPU priority and pin it to specific CPU cores (for example the 3D V-cache cores on an AMD X3D chip).
  • Updating your server files is now much faster: routine updates only download what changed instead of re-checking every file. A full verify still runs on a first install.
  • Flashing terminal on server install and run fixed.
  • Initial Release.
  • Run local Rust dedicated servers from one app: create a server, pick a map, and hit Start.
  • One-click install and update of the server files with a live progress bar.
  • A simple Quick view for running in one click, with an Advanced mode for the full controls.
  • Live server status that shows exactly when your world is actually joinable.
  • Make yourself in-game admin in one click, manage owners and admins, and detect your Steam ID automatically.
  • Join your own server from the app, with copyable local, LAN, and public connect strings.
  • Full world config: size, seed, max players, game mode, plus event and rule toggles for Bradley, cargo ship, and seasonal events.
  • A ready-to-build Creative preset with permanent daylight and nothing that attacks or interrupts you.
  • Custom map support with a built-in LAN host, file picker, and drag-and-drop, plus one-click import of your Crucible Heightmap exports.
  • A live in-app console with RCON, quick actions, command history, and saved macro buttons.
  • A searchable reference of hundreds of admin, creative, and cinematic commands and every server variable, run live or copied in one click.
  • Carbon and Oxide mod stacks with a plugin browser, enable and disable, per-plugin config editing, and RustEdit custom map support.
  • Map, blueprint, and full wipes with automatic pre-wipe backups and one-click restore.
  • Release, staging, and dev branch installs, kept separate for vanilla, Carbon, and Oxide.
  • Run one server at a time, or unlock multiple at once.
  • A storage manager to see and clean up everything the app has installed.
